Best Speakeasy in NYC

a hidden door in chelsea called the 18th room

Upon entering a faux coffee shop and buzzing a doorbell, I met up with my hilarious friend @dbagdating (to talk all things men and life) and was legit impressed for how cool AND delicious The 18th Room was.

It aspires to feel like a 1920's Havana speakeasy with art deco Cuban vibes.

It’s quiet, but still buzzy and perfect for a #nycdatenight or friend’s catchup.

street cred

It has an almost 5-star rating on Yelp and was named by Forbes as “New York’s sleakest new speakeasy.” It also was named one of the Best cocktail bars in 2020 by Town & Country, and I think this place is just going to keep getting more popular.

A foodie’s paradise:

The food is sustainable and a foodie heaven designed by an Australian chef that picks 8-10 seasonal ingredients and creatively sprinkles them throughout the menu.

We started with an appetizer of popcorn tossed in maple syrup and chili flakes. Then I had a Halloumi Blood Orange Salad and drink with mezcal, cacao, and quail egg - basically the most unique pisco-sour ish drink you've ever had.

They have less adventurous options, but I guarantee every palette would enjoy the blasts of flavor.

favorite date spot in new york

It's quiet, but still buzzy and perfect for a NYC date night. ️ Or, if you’re looking for an amazing place with a lot of ambiance and great decor to catch up with friends, it’s perfect for that.

The service is outstanding, the menu is extremely well done, and you don’t have to wait hours to get in.

It’s also not impossible to get into, finally! AND, you can make a reservation.

If anyone asks me about a restaurant or bar rec, I’ll probably pick this place as my #1 place!
