30-Year-Old Skin Routine
Yes, there’s a filter on this photo (thanks HUJI), but you can still see my pores and smooth skin texture. I've always been obsessed with taking care of my skin. In my early twenties, I became regimented with doing an A.M. and P.M. skincare routine. Years later, I'd like to say my skin has been preserved as much as possible.
I will walk you through “key skin care terms” you need to know, the products I swear by for anti-aging and glowing skin, and exactly how I apply them. Please know that this list is updated constantly and is VERY current. If I try a new products and love it, I’ll change the list and swap things out. :)
While I use some products twice a day, others need to be specialized for morning or night. I also try to find a reasonable price point and have tested almost every brand under the sun. After 10 or so years, this is a list that I've perfected.
First, here’s Vocab you need to know:
|exfoliation| /eks-foh-lee-ey-shuh n/ · verb ·
New cell growth. Get rid of the old and bring in the new...skin cells that is. Exfoliation also keeps the pH to your skin balanced which is key for products to work well. Otherwise, you're just wasting money putting cream on dead skin cells that are going to slough off anyway.
|eye cream| /ahy kreem/ · noun ·
Your best friend. Use it at least twice a day as we tend to age around our eyes first. It’s also much harder to fix as we get older (as opposed to Botox in your forehead).
|serums| /seer-uh m/ · noun ·
Vitamins for your skin. While moisturizers lock in...the moisture. Serums apply anti-oxidants and anti-aging vitamins into your skin to restore cell-growth, boost collagen (the stuff we lose in our skin as we get older), and overall keep it healthy (like a workout, for your skin). There are sooo many different kinds it's overwhelming so I typically get one with

How to Exactly apply the products:
1. Wash and rub skin | Eve Lom Morning Cleanser
Why this one? I've never bought an expensive face wash before this one. I thought it was pointless, wasn't I just washing off my makeup so I can put my products on? However, one day I was given a sample and promised this stuff would get all the little bumps away on your hairline and leave it super dewy and moisturized...and now I'm hooked. It's very unique, feels like a creamy oil your slathering to your face and you have to make sure you wash it off well. But it's less drying than any other face wash and keeps your natural oils in your pores...thus disrupting them and the pH of your skin less.
Enriched with natural oils including clove, eucalyptus, chamomile and papaya fruit enzyme which also exfoliates. It feels like a mini facial every time.
How to apply: If I have heavy eye makeup on I'll usually wash it off with micellar water from the drug store (a less harsh makeup remover) before applying the cleanser. Then, starting with a dry face, I rub Eve Lom cleanser around my face and jawline for a minute, washing off with warm water. If you don't like the oily/moisture feeling (you're used to the dry/clean just washed feeling) it might feel funny at first. Sometime I use a muslin cloth or facecloth to wash it off. Just remember though that oils on your face prevent wrinkles. My fav muslin cloths that are affordable can be found here.

2. Use an essence (better than a toner)| Caudalie Vinoperfect Glycolic Brightening Essence
Why is this the best? Well, because I can’t afford the “holy grail” of essences SKII, every skin-care pro knows this is second best. This exfoliates and preps the pH for what you’ll put on your skin.
How to apply: Only use 1-2 times a week in the morning. Soak a cotton ball. The trick here is a ball not a pad so it doesn’t use as much liquid.
Wipe it over your face focusing on areas you will put the serum and where you have congestion.
3. How to get serums to soak into your skin
Why did I choose these? I chose the Dr Dennis Gross Serum product because collagen helps plump your skin, and as we age we lose a lot of it. Vitamin C also brightens dull looking skin which can happen in winter or when you’re tired. Sunday Riley Juno basically has all the essential vitamins your skin needs ( and it’s at an incredible price point for a serum - it’s basically unheard of.
How to apply: Dab a few drops onto you finger tips and press into the skin until you feel it penetrating your pores. Don’t wipe it all over…take effort into gently pressing it into your face.
“I'm a big believer in that if you focus on good skin care, you really won't need a lot of makeup.”
